BBC Sport《A new Man Utd era - but Fernandes still sets the standard》(2026年,26-27赛季英超赛后报道) 字数:约 370 词

'Huge hole at Man Utd without Bruno'

Not everything is straightforward around Fernandes, though.

He has entered the final year of his contract – United have the option to extend by another year – and while it is clear that interest from elsewhere in Europe, including from Turkish club Galatasaray, will not result in him leaving this month, he could justifiably say he should be the highest earner - a status that now belongs to Rashford.

The idea of Fernandes leaving, even at the age of 31, is not something many United fans would be comfortable with.

"He is the one that gets Manchester United ticking," former United and England wide man Ashley Young told Sky Sports. "There is a reason why he was voted player of the year by his fellow professionals and it's performances like this.

"He wants to be the best and he wants to win. He is huge for his club. If they don't have him, there is going to be a huge hole in this team."

At the final whistle, Fernandes' initial reaction was to talk to substitute Benjamin Sesko about a technical point around a pass he had been trying to find the striker with during injury time.

Fernandes then shook hands with opposing players and the officials and was heading off to find more opponents to greet when he realised he had forgotten to collect the match ball, his hat-trick reward.

He swiftly turned, asked, and referee Craig Pawson handed it over.

Without his contribution, Manchester United may well not have won this game - but then, you could have said that about a lot of games over the past couple of years.

"Obviously it was a huge week and to end with a win at home today was massive," Fernandes told BBC Sport.

"I said before the game to be honest; there are certain days you feel it. It is one of those days when everything comes to you and you have to take it.

"I hate losing and it is difficult to be positive when you lose games. It is very difficult for me to control the emotions.

"At this club you want to be on top of everything."

He has entered the final year of his contract – United have the option to extend by another year – and while it is clear that interest from elsewhere in Europe, including from Turkish club Galatasaray, will not result in him leaving this month, he could justifiably say he should be the highest earner - a status that now belongs to Rashford.

拆解:本系列目前最长的一句,足足58个词,但骨架其实只有三段,全靠 and 与 while 焊接:① He has entered the final year of his contract(合同进入最后一年);② while 引导让步从句——"虽然欧洲球队(包括加拉塔萨雷)的兴趣不会导致他本月离队"——从句里 it is clear that... 是形式主语嵌套,interest 后面的 including from Turkish club Galatasaray 是插入举例,主语谓语被隔开十几个词;③ 主句 he could justifiably say...(他完全有理由说该拿顶薪),句尾用破折号挂出同位语 a status that now belongs to Rashford, that 从句说明这"地位"目前归属拉什福德。

2. it is clear that...

3. result in sb doing sth(in + 宾语 + 动名词复合结构)

4. 破折号同位语:a status that... 补充说明 the highest earner

5. including 插入语分隔主语 interest 与谓语 will not result

Fernandes then shook hands with opposing players and the officials and was heading off to find more opponents to greet when he realised he had forgotten to collect the match ball, his hat-trick reward.

拆解:先看并列谓语:shook hands(握手)and was heading off(正要走开)——两个动作由第二个 and 连接。后半段是经典句型 was doing... when...(正要做某事,这时突然……):was heading off 是过去进行时,when 引出突发状况 he realised...(他忽然意识到忘了拿比赛用球)。 句尾 his hat-trick reward 是 the match ball 的同位语——那颗球就是帽子戏法的奖赏。

考点:

1. was doing... when...(正在进行时+when 突发句型,完形填空常客)

2. forget to do sth(忘了要做某事)vs forget doing sth(忘了做过某事)

3. 过去完成时 had forgotten(realised 之前就忘了)

4. 同位语收尾:his hat-trick reward = the match ball

Without his contribution, Manchester United may well not have won this game - but then, you could have said that about a lot of games over the past couple of years.

If it had not been for his contribution(要不是有他的贡献)——所以主句用 may well not have won(对过去的推测完成式,may well 加强语气"完全有可能")。

1. without... 含蓄虚拟条件(= if it had not been for...)

2. may well not have done:

3. could have said:对过去可能性的推测

4. but then(话说回来)口语转折

2. 加拉塔萨雷是谁:Galatasaray(加拉塔萨雷),土耳其伊斯坦布尔豪门。

他口中 a huge hole in this team(队里会塌出一个大洞)是本期标题的出处。

1. B。 United have the option to extend by another year——延长合同一年的选择权在俱乐部手里。

2. B。 while it is clear that interest... will not result in him leaving this month——注意 while 在此表让步,且 result in him leaving 是"导致他离队",整句是否定。

3. B。 Fernandes' initial reaction was to talk to substitute Benjamin Sesko about a technical point——第一反应是教学;C 是后来才想起的事;D 是赛后采访。

Without his contribution, Manchester United may well not have won this game.

1. "没有他的贡献" → Without his contribution(含蓄虚拟条件,等于 If it had not been for his contribution)

2. "很可能" → may well(比 may 语气强,也可用 might well)

3. "赢不下来" → not have won(对过去的推测用完成式,not 位置紧跟第一个助动词)

get sb/sth ticking——让……

He is the one that gets Manchester United ticking,用的正是这个意象:布鲁诺就是那根让全队开始"滴答"作响的发条。

1. She is the one that gets the whole office ticking.

2. The new engine gets the old car ticking again.

3. A good captain gets the team ticking, not just scoring.
